Healthy
Eating Tips
The
first thing I did is eliminate processed sugars from my diet. I
began to eat a mix of fresh fruits and vegetables, along with a good
grade of meat. There's no mystery here, but there are a couple of
things I did that are important.
The
second thing I did was eliminate starches, which includes breads,
pasta, potatoes, rice, refried beans, corn, and etc. Starch turns to
sugar in your body and is assimilated into fat. If you can't
eliminate them, at least dramatically reduce them. If you eat them,
eat whole grain breads and pasta. Cut back on how much of them you
eat. All of this, and the many other recommendations we have in our
program will maximize your opportunity to Go From Fat To Fit. Here's
a tip on eating bread: if you eat breads, toast it. Toasting your
bread helps mitigate the starch - the more toasted the more reduced
starch.

Eat
fruit-heavy in the morning, and introduce vegetables midday. One of
the common myths is that eating fruit will loosen your bowels because
of the lack of fiber. That depends on which fruits you eat. Don't
forget that we introduce vegetables into the diet as well, just later
in the day. I made sure to eat an apple and/or pear, with the peel.
The peel is not only a good source of fiber but is rich in nutrients.
My vegetable intake included generous portions of green vegetables,
such as broccoli, asparagus, green beans, peas, and etc. When you
chose lettuce, stay away from iceberg lettuce, as it is has very
little nutritional value and is a poor source of fiber. Use spinach,
romaine, or any of the other types of greens available.
I
would have free range chicken breast for lunch or a sliced roast beef
with my noon time meal. I made sure to choose a good grade of meat
most every day. It is important to go organic if possible. Give
yourself a variety too, of turkey, beef and pork. There are a
variety of good turkey products available today. Include eggs into
your diet, and don't be afraid to eat both the white and yolk;
there's no need to separate them. Please visit our products page
to review our Go From Fat To Fit Cookbook to find many good recipes
and eating tips.
The
best tip I could give you is to throw guilt out the window when it
comes to eating. If you blow it, put it behind you and move on.
Don't beat yourself up; just forget about it and recommit.
Two
bonus tips:
When
you eat, chew your food 25 times (minimum) before swallowing. If
you do this, you'll find that your food digests better, and your
brain will have time to receive the signal from your belly that it's
full before you eat too much.
When
selecting and preparing your food, as a rule of thumb, if it's
white it's of no nutritional value - if it's colored, it's
rich in nutrition. Chose nutrition and you'll do well.
